All That's Best of Dark and Bright

We’ve ddecided to go to 51% raw foods. This based on some research we read about eating too much cooked food causes your body to resond as if it’s under threat of toxicity. We’re not planning to become total raw foodists - but increasing our intake just seems like a good idea.

We’re also incleasing green smoothie-ing. As in consuming roughly a gallon or two a dasy between the two of us. And mostly vegetarian food outside of that -much of which will be raw- but some soups as well.

This is the path we’re intending on - but we remain open to adjustments, changes, refining. open to however the Universe decides we need to go. We have both realized that when we’re juicing and doing smoothies we feel GOOD. Energized, light, quick. In fact we didnt realize we felt sluggish until we started juicing.

Funny because I’m typically high energy to begin with.

So today we had green smoothies, carrots, snap peas, more smoothies, we split a samosa, and at a chelsea bun (sort of like a cinnamon roll but out of lighter pastry). Thats it. Tonight I’ll have some soup - Poblano pepper - and my Beloved is opting for Smoothies only.

This sort of intense mindfulness concerning that which nourishes us is lovely. It feel good and right and CLEAN.

Life. Is. Good.

The Juice to drink in the morning before eating based on Lou Corona’s Lemon Ginger Blast: One Orange, One lemon, One apple, 2inches ginger, 1/4 tsp cayenne one cup water….now THAT’S how to start your day!!

Breakfast juice!-

1/4 cantaloupe
2 apples
3 carrots
1.5 inch ginger

Makes four cups juice…
Taste- sweet, refreshing, spicy

The pulp from this one will make Yummy apple carrot ginger-y muffins!!

Yes it seems it’s been forever since I’ve said much here. Things have been very very busy in these parts. Teaching classes, travel, and watching the growth in the garden. It’s been interesting to see what things nature left to her own devices brings up for us. While we have many plants in pots we opted not to put in a sq. ft garden this spring for reasons soon to be revealed. Lately my focus has intensified concerning homesteading. This is where our family is and we have many many new projects that we’ll be working on in the upcoming weeks and months. I’m looking forward to this AMAZING adventure and what it holds in store for us. Nothing much will change here as far as content on that front.
On another note - we’re doing Juice Feasting a great deal right now so look for new juicing and Herbal Infusion pictures and recipes to show up here soon!
In the meantime enjoy the picture of the lavender currently in full bloom in the garden!
